The given name of Ambrose entered the Hammonds Family through the family connections of Margaret Sheppard in this manner:
Ambrose Fuske of Wells, Norfolk had a daughter, Alice Fuske who married Thomas Osborne of Kirby-Bedon, Norfolk (buried there July 1616). They had a son, Ambrose Osborne (baptised at Kirby-Bedon, 20 Sept 1573). Buried 2 Aug 1592. Thomas Osborne married Thomzine Berney and had a daughter, Elizabeth, who married Owen Sheppard, at Kirby-Bedon on Apr 28, 1590. This couple had seven children, one of whom they named Ambrose, after his mother's half brother. This child was baptisted at Kirby-Bedon 13 Feb 1597. Owen Sheppard had a sister Margaret Sheppard Hamon, whose fourth child (third son) Ambrose, baptised at Kirby-Bedon 7 Aug 1597, was named after her nephew, born six months before.

A John Hammond, died at Scarning Norfolk in 1546. He married Katherine and had a son Robert Hammond, born at Scarning and died at Wendling, 1606. Robert Hammond married Agnes Penton 1547. They had a son Robert Hammond who was baptisted Sept 8 1556 at Scarning Norfolk. This Robert married Margaret Sheppard (above), baptisted Mar 5, 1559, at Kirby-Bedon, Norfolk. Robert and Margaret had a son, Ambrose Hammond, baptisted at Kirby-Bedon on Aug 7, 1597.
